Access Pro Bono Summary Advice Program

Access Pro Bono
Offers free legal advice to low- and modest-income individuals by phone or videoconference. Their volunteer lawyers provide up to a half hour of advice at each appointment, with the possibility of more appointments. Legal issues include family, immigration, criminal, and civil law (such as debt, employment, welfare, and housing matters).

Everyone Legal Clinic (fixed-fee legal services)

Access Pro Bono
Connect with an articling clinician or a community lawyer who offers affordable legal services on a limited scope and fixed fee basis. Areas covered are family law, residential tenancy, employment and benefits, wills and estates, and civil disputes.

The Canadian Bar Association, BC Branch (CBABC)
Online legal directory where you can find legal services in your community by searching for the location, area of practice, and language spoken to find all lawyers that meet those criteria. You can also find a specific lawyer or law firm if you know the name.

Incident Reporting and Advocate Referral Program

The Legal Centre for Palestine
The Legal Centre provides legal consultation and defence for Palestinians and those involved in advocacy related to Palestine, limited to incidents occuring in Canada. Report an incident or seek legal assistance from their roster of volunteer paralegals and lawyers. Referral is free, but legal assistance and cost are subject to availability.

In-person help from Nidus

Nidus Registry
Nidus can help you with personal planning. You can contact them on behalf of an adult you’re helping. They have a trained volunteer who helps with education, with forms for making a representation agreement, and with using the Nidus Registry. You need to book ahead for an in-person appointment in Vancouver. Open to everyone, not just seniors.

A free, accessible service that aims to include children’s views and voices in the family law process at an early stage. The service focuses on the child's comfort and agency while helping them understand legal concepts in a child-friendly way.

Provides free credit counselling appointments to discuss your personal finances with a certified credit counsellor. They will review your financial situation to help you make a plan to get out of debt.

Dispute resolution for consumers

Better Business Bureau
Helps you file a complaint against a business and get a resolution to your problem. You can post reviews about your experience with a business. The BBB will help you report scams, imposters, frauds, or schemes, as well as file complaints about warranty disputes for a vehicle.
