Accessibility Statement

Courthouse Libraries BC is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for all of our users. We’re continually improving the user experience for everyone, and applying the relevant accessibility standards.

Conformance status

The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) are considered to be the benchmarks for website accessibility and form the basis for what many organizations are expected to follow according to legislation in their country or region. We have targeted WCAG 2.1 AA compliance.

User testing

As part of our project, we engaged a group of website users to gather feedback on how to improve the site and to workshop proposed changes, to ensure that they were intuitive and clear for our audience.

Design

We believe a user-friendly design goes hand-in-hand with accessibility. Our design team carefully considered WCAG best practices when selecting color palettes, typography, and layout. This ensures a clear and consistent information presentation for all visitors.

Content Management System (CMS)

We selected Drupal as our content management system and Drupal used modules to support key features. Drupal and the selected modules strive to attain WCAG 2.1 AA.

Development

During development, we used Siteimprove to identify areas that might cause difficulties for visitors and implement solutions to resolve flagged issues.

We also incorporated accessibility testing into our hands on testing, such as making way-finding simple and ensuring that visitors can navigate keyboard only navigation. This helped us ensure the website aligns with accessibility best practices and WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance.

Content testing

After adding content to Clicklaw, we ran another round of Siteimprove testing to catch any accessibility issues that might have slipped through initial testing and completed additional fixes.

Feedback

Creating a truly accessible website is an ongoing process. We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of Clicklaw. Please let us know if you have any problems using Clicklaw by emailing us at editor@clicklaw.bc.ca.

We try to respond to feedback within three business days.
