Provides legal information, advice, referrals, and representation to low-income immigrants and refugees. They help newcomers navigate the Canadian legal system and understand their legal rights and responsibilities.

The Community Law Advocacy program provides free and confidential service to people with poverty-related legal issues including human rights, employment, debt and collections, and tenancy. Helps with appealing denials and applying for provincial and federal benefits of all kinds. Victim Services program is also available.

Book an appointment to speak directly with a court registry employee for assistance with court related matters by video or phone. Court registry staff will try to answer your questions about court processes, but they cannot help you complete your forms or give legal advice.

Find a notary by searching by name, location, or language. Notaries provide a broad range of legal services, including affidavits for all documents you need at a Public Registry, authorization of minor child travel, certified true copies of documents, powers of attorney, and will preparation.

The community law advocate helps with income assistance, tenancy dispute resolution, Employment Insurance, and federal income benefits. The family law advocate helps with desk order divorce and other family law issues, domestic violence screening, protection orders, and safety resources. Pro bono law clinics and BC Housing workshops are available.

Provides support from legal advocates who are trained to assist the South Asian community. Issues covered include applying for income assistance, PWD, OAS, crime victim assistance program, CPP, CDP, EI, CTB, daycare subsidy. They also help with tenancy matters, general police complaint, and debt-related matters.

Free information and referrals to help you deal with your legal issues. Questions are answered by UBC law students on weekdays from 11 am to 2 pm. Questions outside these hours will receive a response the next business day. Ask JES is supported by a knowledge base of over 1,000 legally reviewed questions and answers.

Provides legal advice, assistance, and representation to eligible clients who live in the Capital Regional District and who can’t afford a lawyer. They help with criminal matters, divorce, support and other family law matters, human rights complaints, and civil disputes. They also help with some hearings before administrative tribunals.

Persons who are hospitalized or who can’t attend the Law Centre in person because of disability or illness may telephone the office for more information. A staff member may arrange to visit them. (The Law Centre staff won’t give legal advice over the telephone.)

Provides legal information services to the public via a network of libraries in BC courthouses. Visit the website & learn how the libraries provide access to staff expertise, print and digital legal collections, and public computers. You’re encouraged to call or email before visiting as they can provide many services this way & can save you time.
