Effective July 1, 2010, there are new court rules and forms for Supreme Court cases. In fact, there are two sets of rules:

• For family law cases: New Supreme Court Family Rules and Forms
• For all other Supreme Court cases: New Supreme Court Civil Rules and Forms

The rules and forms have been revised in part to make them more user-friendly and readable. Good starting points for the new court rules include:

• The provincial government has published fact sheets that provide an overview of key features of the new court rules: Key Features of the New Civil Rules and Key Features of the New Family Rules.
• As well, the provincial government's website offers more information on the new rules, including flowcharts showing the progress of a claim and information on how the rules were developed.
